How to redo stairs for cheap - Give your outdated staircase a gorgeous new look! This is a cheater version (little scraping / little painting) that uses wood caps on top of your existing stairs.

We purchased red oak stair tread covers from Floor&Decor, bleached them, applied light whitewash, light stain, sanded, and poly. Quite a process but saved us about five thousand dollars.
