In the early 1900's law stated that there had to be a court hearing before someone could be sent to a mental institution against their will. However, men could have their wives locked away without having to give a good reason and the wives could do absolutely nothing about it.

This mental institution was built in 1926 and used to house only female patients. The last patients left in 2007 and the buildings have been left abandoned.
