The concept of "justification by faith" is one of the most important doctrines in Scripture. Unfortunately, some misunderstand it, some scoffingly dismiss it, and some ignore it completely. But let me tell you something (and I don't think I'm overstating the case here), you cannot be a Christian unless you understand and embrace the doctrine of justification by faith. So let's talk about what it means to be justified by faith.

“We make money the old-fashioned way. We earn it.” That slogan, made famous by an American investment company, for years assured us that the best way—perhaps the only way—to get what we want in life

Are we saved by faith or by works? Or is it a combination of the two? Do you start by placing your faith in Jesus and then have to produce works to be saved? In Rom 3:28, Paul tells us that we are justified by faith quite apart from the works of the law. Yet James states that we are justified by works and not by faith alone (Jam 2:24). Romans 5:1-2 (NASB) Results of Justification 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith,we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. God is abundant in grace and mercy and His greatest act of grace is the gift of salvation that is available for all people through faith!

Galatians 3:23-27 23. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26.
