Soviet architecture is characterized by the constant search for forms: characteristics of rationalism and constructivism attracted architects striving to give houses maximum functionality.

The 5km divot left by the neutron bomb that leveled the old city was not left a barren scar for long. The foundation upon which the center of the new city was built, it contains major hydro, electric, and transit systems throughout.
