But, if all you’re doing is a bunch of high rep, low load crunching movements just to get a “burn,” you’re missing out on a lot of potential gains!  Your midsection is responsible for so much - extension, rotation, lateral flexion, flexion, etc. and there’s so much more to it than just developing a six pack…which crunches aren’t all that effective in doing anyway!
