32 Battalion (“Buffalo Battalion”) was a special infantry battalion of the “old” Republic of South Africa (RSA) Empire, composed mainly of blacks. It was disbanded on 26 March 1993 on the request of the African National Congress (ANC) prior to the multinational elections of 1994.

75339440PE Sergeant Louis Wessels from 1 Para Btn being carried to his last resting place by members from his Unit. He was Killed in Action on 15 January 1981 during a fierce contact with a numerically superior FAPLA and SWAPO/PLAN force while supporting 32 Battalion during the Battle of Cuamato in S/Angola. The Paratroopers had retreated in order to re-group when they were subjected to heavy enemy mortar fire. He was killed instantly when hit by mortar shrapnel.

Lt-Gen James Kriel, former Chief of the South African Air Force. Left service after inauguration of President Mandela, in 1999. He was the first Chief of Air Force who never had a degree. When he was 16 and finished school, all he wanted to do was go fly helicopters. And so the journey began.............
