With a 30-year career as a professional artist, Hanlie has experienced the pleasure and enjoyment that comes with hosting a number of sold-out solo exhibitions. Hanlie did not receive any formal art training and her path actually came through the written word. She studied BA in Communication and Journalism at the University of the Free State. She has a profound poetic talent. Her faculty and talent as an artist only manifested themselves when she started illustrating her poetry.
