Knee Pain Exercises
If exercises like lunges and squats hurt your knees, you might be quick to blame the knees themselves. But just because that's the joint that's speaking up during your workout doesn't mean it deserves to take all the heat. Until you build up the surrounding muscles and start to feel better, avoid movements that feel painful or hard on your knees, check out a few lower-body exercises that will help you work the all-important knee-supporting muscles in a low-impact way.
Knee pain is a common exercise complaint. The knee is an intricate joint, involving bones, menisci, muscles, tendons, and ligaments all supporting the joint. If there is damage or stress to any of these components, you may have achy knees. Plus, many physical activities can put a lot of strain, impact, or body weight directly on the knees, and in turn, cause pain while you work out. This is common among weekend warriors who work out intensely but inconsistently.
