Strawberry barrels can grow the equivalent of 25 ft of planted rows! Use a hole saw to cut 3"-dia planting holes 10" apart, rows staggered diagonally, with 12" above the top row. Add 1/2"-dia drainage holes on bottom, remove the top. Add a 4" PVC pipe tube (barrel height) and drill 3/4" holes every 4-6". Put screen or hardware cloth across the bottom and insert the tube, then fill the tube with gravel and the barrel with soil, adding a plant per spot and add plants in the top.
