Platinum is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Pt and an atomic number of Its name is derived from the Spanish term platina, which is literally translated into "little silver".

This beryl (aquamarine) crystal was found in the Shigar Valley, North Areas, Pakistan. The crystal is about 13 cm tall. The beryl is perched on a well-formed microcline crystal with quartz. These three minerals are often found together in pegmatites.
