Potjiekos ("Food in a pot") - This dish is traditionally cooked over a fire in a three legged cast iron pot. It originated with the Voortrekkers (pioneers) who travelled into the unknown interior of Southern Africa in the18th Century, in wagons pulled by oxen. Potjiekos is one of the most popular dishes in SA today
