Issue 103 is on sale today in Australia and there are many wondrous things between its covers. A chat with a lady who studies the human connection to space. An introduction to some of New Zealand’s loveliest native flora. A bookstore devoted to romance novels and romance novels alone. A bunch of felines wearing snazzy headscarves (did you know a group of cats is called a ‘clowder’?) Plus, we meet a few people who live like they were born in a different era.
Oh, issue 102. How do we love thee? Let us count the ways. We love you for your beaut collage cover created by Melbourne artist Alice Lindstrom. We love you for the bonus extras tucked away inside, including lovely stick-on bookplates, a poster splashed with cosy drink recipes, and a happy-making art print to jazz up your wall.
Issue 101 is officially on sale, and here’s a taste of what you’ll find within its pages: folks who are partners in both work and life; jewellery that’s a little bit bad taste and a little bit nice; recipes to keep your tummy full on the lead-up to payday; and one vibrant fibro shack in paradise. Magic, grief, dog wee and compost – we discuss all that and an awful lot more.
Are you ready for this, frankie fellows? Issue 94 is officially on sale, and it’s got loads inside to keep your eyes and grey matter happy. First up, there’s a theatre company whose plays are held entirely in the dark, plus a fellow in Germany who collects ‘ugly’ ceramic clocks. (Though we reckon they’re actually pretty nice-looking.) We teach you the basics of wine appreciation – terroir, tannins and mouthfeel included – and visit a thriving ballet school in the centre of a Brazilian slum.
It’s that day that only comes around every two months, that’s filled with heady excitement and large amounts of squee: ladies and gents, it’s frankie day! And not just any old issue of frankie, either – our summer bumper issue, which is chock full of bonus goodies, like a set of pull-out bookmarks designed by Martina Martian, a special art print by Demii Whiffin, and a whopping big 2020 wallplanner.
Issue 92 is officially on sale around Australia, and it’s packed to the brim with ace bits and bobs. Want to know all about the animals who’ve entered outer space? We’ve got a story about that! Need some warm-weather threads that are one part awesome, one part awkward? We’ve got them, too! There’s also creative folks answering questions about life, death and the universe; a bunch of scrummy recipes using coffee in unusual ways; and a loving ode to the great outdoors.
Yay, hooray and happy day! Just like that, issue 91 is out in the world, with loads of awesomeness to please your eyes and grey matter. For starters, there’s a bunch of local illustrators taking Aussie slang quite literally – think cool-as-heck budgie smugglers and a dog’s breakfast, for instance. You’ll also find a debate about whether being late is OK, the history of some of our favourite board games, and a crafty lass who coined the job title ‘forensic jeweller’. Oh, and our rather perky floral cover was painted by none other than Aussie icon Ken-bloody-Done! Woohoo!
