Nontsikelelo Albertina Sisulu, affectionately known as Ma Sisulu, was an anti-apartheid activist and wife to fellow activist, Walter Sisulu. Of course, her political activities meant she, like her husband, was frequently jailed and spent some time at the Old Fort Women's Prison at Constitution Hill. We have been commissioned to complete the redesign of the visitor centre for the Old Fort prison buildings at Consitution Hill in Johannesburg.

Unfortunately, though the legal Transatlantic Slave Trade was abolished, the slave trade still exists today and is still affecting many people around the world. To educate on both the history of slavery as well as on slavery as it exists today, we designed the Travelling Slavery exhibits. One of the exhibits was originally open to visitors at the South Africa Slave Church Museum while another was hosted at the Malmesbury Museum.

The three travelling custom exhibits, put together by our museum exhibition designers, educate visitors on historical and modern slavery.

The Black Sash (a group of liberal women formed in 1955) protested against forced removals and participated in 1978 in the Save Crossroads campaign - a campaign that is an important part of the history of Khayalitsha in South Africa. The Travelling Khayalitsha exhibit is currently being hosted at the OR Tambo Hall. Read more about how we approached designing this centre.
