Roller Skating: How to Start • Check Wheels-Most of the time they need to be loosened. You want them to spin freely but but jiggle around. • Put on Safety Gear/Helmet on before Skates (besides wrist guards) • Put wrist guards on before standing in skates • Arms out for Stability • Bend Knees always (helps give stability and lessens risk of falling back) • Can try getting comfortable on non slick surface like carpet first • Can use something like a chair for stability • Focus on the ability to stand upright, learn safe falling, stops, and simple movements first. • Learn Forwards Stride • After a session, sit down before taking skates or gear off. Sit, remove wrist guards, then skates, then rest of gear/helmet. • Roller skating is HARD! Takes time and practice. It’s compl
