The 16th December is like a sabbath for Boer nation, dedicated to thanksgiving JHWH, for to obey to the vow that the Voortrekkers (pioneers) did in the 1838. A vote that committed all their biological-spiritual descendants.
The word "Blyde" means 'happy' or 'glad' in Dutch. It was named by Hendrik Potgieter in 1844 on behalf of the Voortrekkers. They were moving up North and East to find new grazing and farming land. The British had taken over the Cape, therefore, the Voortrekker crossing of the Orange River to live beyond the borders of the British Rule.
