There are days where all things go right and then there are days like these where Mother Nature and the Pilanesberg offer up the extraordinary. As the sun was setting, this beautiful Kalahari Black Mane was left all forlorn as his mate made a dash for it and left him staring longingly into the distance. Apparently… She came back for more. Highveld thunderstorms are spectacular and in particular when you are high up in the mountains on Moloto Drive in the Pilanesberg.

Framed at Twilight Heading back to Ta Shebube’s Rooiputs Lodge after the sun had set, we almost missed the Cheetahs. Karel, screamed stop from the back of the vehicle, Mr T screamed to a halt in a cloud of dust, just as the two brothers climbed this dead tree for us, at the Rooiputs waterhole. What a stunning end to the first day of a wonderful 10 days in the park.

Catch of the day... Take-away breakfast at Mankwe Dam, was happy to catch this pied kingfisher with his catch before it knocked it out. These guys operate at speeds that are hard to keep-up with and I got lucky here. Was just a Great day out with Christa Goosen Photography. #wildography

The distinguished silver tooth. Stories written on the roadmaps of wisdom across this gentleman’s face will take 85 years to tell I am sure. What a special character, and meeting him on our visit to Hoi An was a delight. Thanks to Hoi An Photo Tour & Workshop for the introduction. With Christa Goosen Photography

This has got to be the ugliest, prettiest bird out there and I love it in Black & White... ok, so I admit I just love Black & White. Taken on a recent trip to Kruger. With Christa Goosen #Wildography

From Down Below... looking up at these, from this close-up, is quite intimidating, but we were safely tucked away in Jaci's hide. You sit at water level in the middle of the dam. Wonderful experience being surrounded by these beauties. #Wildography

Mommy's boy... The close bond between Mother and Son in the Madikwe Game Reserve. We were thinking of stopping for sun downers, having given up on Lions for the day, when these two slowly appeared out of the bushes having just come off a kill. With heavily swollen tummies making their way down to the waters edge. We missed out on our drinks and snacks, as the sun was gone an twilight turned pitch black, but it was worth it.

The muddy roadblock! It's the obligatory standard Kruger 17:30 gate-closing-time roadblock. Just when you think you are going to make the gate on time, this muddy giant steps into the road and says I don't think so :-)
