Believe it or not, I've had a few rooms in San Francisco with no closets. Now that I have a decent-sized closet, I make sure to maximize that space--and you should do the same. Hanging shoe racks, though precarious, save floor space for lesser-used items
Making your own fitted wardrobe or built-in cupboard allows you the freedom to choose a design and customise the storage to suit your needs. You can also choose the material for making your fitted wardrobe or built-in cupboard, rather than have to settle for melamine or laminated chipboard.
Pretty similar to what I have in mind for Jaime's side of the room. Whatever canopy/draping we use for her bed, it must fit with the desk area below, too. I absolutely love the idea of bookshelves or a cork board under there, too. If we don't end up using Jace's current bookshelf headboard as a footboard to Zoe's bed... we could put it behind the desk and make it a desk bookshelf.
