Ironing a Suit Jacket: To eliminate wrinkles for the interview, try three things: 1) Turn the jacket inside out if you're going to iron it. The heat from the iron makes some jacket fabric shiny. Flipping it around protects it. 2) Turn the iron's steam up a high as possible. Moisture is your friend. 3) Try hanging your jacket in the bathroom and run hot water in the shower - that may do the trick.
Like a riding habit, a tailor-made suit was usually of wool and incorporated obviously mannish details, though it fit like conventional women's clothing. It was worn with a shirtwaist blouse, modelled on a man's shirt, and a ribbon tie; the allusion to menswear was obvious. Miss Winifred Marler wore this tailor-made suit in 1898, the year she made her social début.
