Type of Source: Advertisement - Date of Origin: 1928 - This is a gum advertisement from the late 1920s as gum was introduced in 1928. Walter Diemer is credited for the first successful invention of bubble gum. While working at Fleer Chewing Gum Company, Diemer accidentally made a formula that allowed a chewer to blow bubbles. Fleer Chewing Gum Company marketed Diemer's new gum as "Double Bubble". Until Bazooka Bubble Gum was invented, Double Bubble was the only bubble gum on the market.
