The combination of rendered walls, wide steps, warm stone copings and nice planting is very nice. A white render and darker brown or grey stone would look good in the cottage - a more refined version of what you currently have.
This is probably one of my personal favourites for watercolour paintings. This drawing just allows the viewer to see the great difference in contrast and tone from the light source. As you can see, the light source piercing through the windows are yellow/orange-ish whilst fading gradually to blue and dark grey. I love it!

Inside a Box - get students to bring a collection of objects in a box - and do a value study of the box and contents - IMPORTANT - have collection boxes on hand as is inevitable some students will forget to bring one to draw
