Great Britain is the official name given to the two kingdoms of England and Scotland, and the principality of Wales. The United Kingdom (UK) includes these areas as well as Northern Ireland. Britain refers to only England and Wales, though some will shorten Great Britain with this term.
Can your students identify the seven continents of the world? What about the four oceans? Equator? Prime Meridian? Give this assessment frequently so students are able to identify the parts of the world correctly. I give this assessment to my students quarterly and it is amazing to see how the improvement (or lack there of) after knowing they will have a pop geography test at any time! :) Enjoy!
