After you complete a Dutch braid (a reverse French braid) down one side, go in with some dry shampoo and gently pull it apart. This will create a thick-looking braid. And after the ponytail is secure, use your fingers to back-comb the tail slightly
Sean wants tuxes with coat tails (which I think is fab vintage for Mackinac Island) and I think dark gray is a good color for an outdoor wedding. He isn't fond of ties because he has trouble folding them. Do you have to tie a cravat?
