Hue was once Vietnam’s capital and the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. Rich in history and monuments, the city itself is a work in progress with little choice of restaurants and hotels. While I didn’t fall in love with the city, I was impressed by the sights it had to offer. As the former home to the last emperor of Vietnam, there are plenty worth seeing.

METROPOLE HANOI. Hanoi (Vietnam). This is by far the best city hotel in all Vietnam. Full of history and lovely decor. Get a room in their old wing and you are in for a treat. I've actually never been able to stay here (always been fully booked when I was in Hanoi), but I highly recommend a coffee in their lobby area and Sunday brunches are one of the best in town. http://www.sofitel.com/gb/hotel-1555-sofitel-legend-metropole-hanoi/index.shtml
