A military dog who lost a leg when sniffing out a roadside bomb has been awarded the animal equivalent of the Victoria Cross after serving in more than 400 missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don McCullin, US Marine during a pause in fighting, Vietnam, 1968. For me it is the amount of silent emotion in this soldier's face that elevates the image above the norm. Anyone in London who wants to see McCullin's work should pop into the Imperial War Museum to see their special exhibition.
