Kati Penn grew up in a musical family in Frankfort, Kentucky, taking up the fiddle at age 10. When she was only 12 she became a member of the Young Acoustic All-Stars, a group of young Bluegrass players that performed around USA. She has played fiddle and sung with a number of well-known acts, working alongside five-time IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year Dale Ann Bradley, acclaimed guitarist Jim Hurst (Trisha Yearwood, David Grisman), and Grammy-winning country songwriter/musician Pam Gadd.
