A Shropshire Lad - Climbing Rose by David Austin - pretty much a classic. Very fragrant, with a fruity tea rose scent. Disease resistant, repeat flowering and - I was surprised to learn - almost thornless.

Tuscany Superb® thornless, is a very similar rose in character and colouring but with larger flowers and taller, more vigorous growth. The very deep purple, semi-double flowers are made up of many petals, which partially obscure the bright golden stamens. It forms a sturdy shrub with spreading, upright growth and plentiful dark green foliage. There is a light fragrance. 5x3ft
The Generous Gardener climbing rose. For back of border or a climber. The Generous Gardener was named in 2002 to mark the seventy-fifth anniversary of the National Gardens Scheme which has, over the years since is was set up by Elsie Wagg, contributed so much to charity. One day I plan to open my late parents garden to the public to raise money for research into cancer and lung disease in their memory.
