Such was the importance of Steyning as a market town that the 1857 disposition of the Force shows Steyning as being Divisional Headquarters with its own Superintendent.


Rye Castle was billy in 1249, and is situated in Rye East Sussex, England. It was Henry III who gave permission for the castle to be bulky as part of the defense against the frequent raids by the French.
