Saint Catherine of Alexandria, feast day November 25. Catherine was a virgin and martyr. She is the patron saint of philosophers and preachers.

Saint Catherine of Alexandria, also known as Saint Catherine of the Wheel and The Great Martyr Saint Catherine is a Christian saint and virgin, who was martyred in the early century at the hands of the pagan emperor Maxentius.

Catherine of Alexandria, Carlo Crivelli (Italian artist, she holds her symbolic attributes of a martyr's palm and spoked wheel.

Imprisoned, tortured and sentenced to death by Emperor Maxentius, St. Katherine for surpassed the intelligence of her opponents debating her virtuous views that  helped converted 200 additional Christians.  Her death took place on a broken spiked wheel which now serves emblematic in honorary of her death, also later beheaded.
