Adopting a waste-conscious and anti-consumerist lifestyle is not something that happens overnight. Sometimes it's nice to hear about other people who are just starting out, like this young family from southwestern Ontario, Canada.
Did anyone catch the Trash exhibit at NY Studio Gallery? It featured artists' work that put plain old trash to new use as artwork. My favorite piece beautifully used beer bottle caps (and I'm a teetotaler!):
A roadrunner, the state bird, in Las Cruces, NM. The belly is made of white and light colored sneakers and the rest is made up of a huge range of junked pieces, from appliance parts to children's toys - whatever way handy at the city dump where it was created and lived until getting a prime spot atop the hill.
