Laurel Falls is perhaps the easiest waterfall hike near Gatlinburg. During the busy times of the year, it is recommended to arrive early in order to avoid the crowds. It is 2.5 miles roundtrip, and follows a paved trail. The trail cuts through the middle of a series of cascades. Laurel Falls is 60 feet high. Trailhead: From Sugarlands Visitor Center, turn toward Cades Cove on Little River Road and drive 3.5 miles to the trailhead where there are parking areas on both sides of the road.
