Oral appliances for sleep apnea are often used as a substitute for CPAP or sleep apnea oral surgery. It is often used in conjunction with weight loss if the individual is overweight. Sleep apnea mouth guards are anti-snoring devices. They reduce airway turbulence and stop snoring. These custom sleep apnea mouthpieces, often called by the general public, ‘sleep apnea mouth guards’, are often most effective in sleep apnea patients who have mild or moderate sleep apnea.
SLEEP APNEA...I could not use a CPAP. My dentist attended a seminar on OASYS nasal airway system (http://www.oasyssleep.com/), an FDA approved oral appliance for those suffering from OSA , recommended it to me. I have been using it 2 years. I have a massage chair that has zero gravity position(the most relaxed position) & when I'm on that position as a I sleep, I snore loud. But with the OASYS mouthpiece & I barely snore at all. In my experience, this mouthpiece is an alternative to CPAP.
