A 142-year-old lumber baron mansion at the edge of Saginaw, Michigan's downtown area has, once again, been saved from the wrecking ball, at least for a few months. The Saginaw City Council on May 9, 2016 overturned an April 25 decision to demolish the home at 633 S. Washington. The striking red brick Queen Anne has sat vacant for several years, though it once was home to pioneer Saginaw lumberman Charles Lee, Dr. Michael Ryan and later to actress and local eccentric Rosemary DeGesaro.

Saginaw bricks. Made by the Saginaw Paving Brick company, these bricks were provided to The YWCA, Schmeltzer Store, Symons Bros. Store, St. Mary's Church, St. Andrews Church, Germania School, Salina School and many more places around town. In 1917 it closed its doors for good, due to the Federal Government deeming the business as non-essential during WWI.
