August 2013: The chairman of Saffron Walden Town FC successfully marshalled Anglia Two into land on the Catons Lane pitch just before the start of an under 18 match. Melvyn Seymour sprang into action when he noticed the EAAA pilot circling the ground in search of a make-shift helipad. Drawing on 24 years of experience working as a marshal for BAA at Stansted Airport, Mr Seymour gave the pilot the ‘OK’ to land and guided him down with the use of hand signals.

THE chairman of Saffron Walden Town FC proved he was a man of many talents last week – successfully marshalling an air ambulance into land on the Catons Lane pitch.
