We were doing an event at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, on April 18, 2012. Before speaking, the #44thPresident #BarackObama was looking at some of the automobiles and exhibits adjacent to the event, and before I knew what was happening he walked onto the famed Rosa Parks bus. He sat in one of the seats, looking out the window for a only few seconds. White House Photograph Pete Souza #Obama44 #ObamaLegacy #ObamaHistory #ObamaLibrary #ObamaFoundation Obama.org

Rosa Parks Bus - The Story Behind the Bus - Henry Ford Museum - the Bigot as Benefactor

November 13, 1956 – The United States Supreme Court declares Alabama and Montgomery, Alabama laws requiring segregated buses illegal, thus ending the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The National City Lines bus, No. 2857, on which Rosa Parks was riding before she was arrested (a GM "old-look" transit bus, serial number 1132), is now a museum exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum.

This is the bus Rosa Parks was riding when she refused to move seats for a white man. Soon after, a bus boycott took effect and was one of many tactics used by civil rights organizations.
