Jean Sibelius; 8 December 1865 – 20 September 1957) was a Finnish composer of the later Romantic period whose music played an important role in the formation of the Finnish national identity. His mastery of the orchestra has been described as "prodigious."

Frederic Chopin was born in Poland but lived most of his life in Paris and is one of the best-known and best loved composers of the Romantic period. Chopin’s entire musical output was devoted to his favorite instrument the piano with over 200 solo compositions.

He was a very skilled pianist, and composed some exquisite music for that instrument. His piano pieces include Preludes, Etudes, Waltzes, Impromptus, Ballades, Nocturnes and Scherzos, as well as Mazurkas and Polonaises based on Polish dance forms.
Alexander Konstantinovich Glazunov (1865–1936) Russian composer of the late Russian Romantic period, music teacher & conductor. He served as director of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory between 1905 & 1928 & was also instrumental in the reorganization of the institute into the Petrograd Conservatory, then the Leningrad Conservatory, following the Bolshevik Revolution. Glazunov was significant in that he successfully reconciled nationalism & cosmopolitanism in Russian music.
