The base of the statue has a baseball diamond on it.  The three bases are clear squares containing dirt from three fields where Clemente played: Santurce Field in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Forbes Field, and Three Rivers Stadium.

Such a beautiful ball park. It is so open, and the Roberto Clemente Bridge is closed to traffic before home games, giving visitors an opportunity to walk on the bridge and see the Steel City in one of the best ways.
