Karen Carpenter - passed away in 1983 at the very young age of 32. Karen was at her parent’s house when she suddenly collapsed and was rushed to Downey Community Hospital, 25 minutes away from their home. She was suffering from anorexia nervosa, a disorder caused by compulsive dieting. She died of cardiac arrest. Karen’s anorexia caused The Carpenters to cancel a 1975 performance `Queens Elizabeth and a concert tour of Europe & the Orient.
