Remington 870 I will admit that I don’t use a shotgun for deer hunting all that often, but there are times when they really shine. For field use I prefer a pump action, it’s less likely to get jammed up with mud and crud. And if you're going deer hunting you may encounter mud and crud. The Remington 870 is my choice for a deer shotgun. Easy enough. And when I’m out I will also throw some shot shells in my pockets in case I come across a squirrel or birds that are in season.
