Red pandas are of the order Carnivora, making them carnivores, but their diet consists almost entirely of bamboo leaves. http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2014/09/26/facts-about-the-red-panda.aspx
@Regrann from @usatoday - The Red Panda population has declined 50% in the last 18 years. Their diet is 98% bamboo so without new feeding grounds with ample bamboo the Red Panda's will die off. Lisa Nipp USA TODAY #RedPanda #Panda #Extinction #Explore #MMV www.biglifemmv.com - #regrann
The red pandas are by far my favourite animal! They are from the Himalayan forest and have a diet of bamboo, plants, and even bird eggs. Red pandas are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species because of habitat loss. There are fewer than 10,000 adult red pandas. FACT: The only reason why they have the name "panda" is because they have a thumb to grab bamboo like the giant pandas.
