The 1991 videotaped beating of Rodney King by L.A.P.D. officers, and subsequent riots triggered by the acquittal of the officers involved, rocked L.A. and the nation. The events brought to the forefront concerns about racism and police brutality within the L.A.P.D. Some, including former L.A.P.D. Police Chief Daryl Gates, say the the way Los Angeles responded to these events helped set the stage for the Rampart scandal. Here are the views of some of the folks involved.
Set in the late ‘90s against the backdrop of Los Angeles’ infamous Rampart scandal, one of the largest police misconduct cases in US history, a dirty LAPD officer (Woody Harrelson) attempts to preserve his twisted notion of law enforcement and salvage his crumbling private life. #Rampart #LAPD #police #movies #film #LA
RAMPART: Despite a magnetic performance by Harrelson, it deals with issues, such as police corruption and their effects on the soul and family, that have been seen numerous times in film and television. The script feels like an entire season of THE SHIELD condensed into an hour and forty minutes.
