"I've been thinking about taking chances, and how it's really just about overcoming your fears. Because the truth is, everytime you take a big risk in your life, no matter how it ends up, you're always glad you took it." ♡
I want to read this to myself every morning: "Look at you. You're young. You're scared. Why are you so scared? Stop being paralyzed. Stop swallowing your words. Stop caring about what other people think. Wear what you want. Say what you want. Listen to the music you want to listen to. Play it loud as fuck and dance to it. Go out for a drive at midnight and forget you have work the next day. Stop waiting for Friday. Live now. Do it now. Take risks. Tell secrets. This life is yours."
"In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take, the relationships we were scared to have and the decisions we waited too long to make. There comes a time in your life when you realise who matters, who doesn't, who never did and who always will. So don't worry about the people from your past, there's a reason they didn't make it to your future."
Dyer, Gregsen, & Christensen (2011) talk about taking risks in order to be innovative. Sometimes I don't take risks because I fall back on the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix is" mantra, but I need to remind myself to keep trying and look at risk-taking in different ways.
