Antonio Ciseri, "Penitent Magdalena". That hair is stunning--and I like that it hangs down so long and heavy, covering her face, weighing her down. I think the work is actually more expressive this way. It also signifies shame--she wants to hide her face, and her sins, as much as she can, with her hands and bowed head but also with those thick, dark ropes.
Castle in Spiez on the shores of Lake Thun near Interlaken, Switzerland - This was on our train route to Adelboden so we stopped and walked around one day. It's amazing how many pretty little places there are in Switzerland.
