The horrible gas chambers at Auschwitz. Used for the first time in 1941. It fit 700 people and took 2 days to burn the bodies..this wasn't fast enough, so they built another camp, Birkenau (Auschwitz II) that can handle 4000 at a time.

Valley of Death in Fordon, Bydgoszcz, northern Poland, is a site of Nazi German mass murder and a mass grave of 5,000 – 6,600 Poles and Jews murdered in October and November 1939 by the local Germans and the Gestapo. The murders were a part of Intelligenzaktion in Pomerania, a Nazi action aimed at the elimination of the Polish intelligentsia, at the beginning of World War II. "However, the project was not about creating faithful replicas of the historical photographs," added Mr Sawicki. "It was rather about reminding the viewer in a profound manner about all that took place here, in this very place. While taking the photographs one after another, I could sense the peculiar emptiness more and more. The people, who are the essence of the pictures in the album, were missing. Today, they are not here any more, only the place where they were murdered remains."
