Convolvulus sabatius This sweet little plant develops a dense carpet of grey-green leaves, and only grows about 15-20cm high. It spreads extensively, is fast growing and has slender twining stems that are studded with periwinkle blue blooms. Drape over rockeries, pathways and retaining walls. Periwinkle, especially Vinca Minor, is an evergreen ground cover that thrives in the shade, requires little to no maintenance and is Deer resistant... This would be a perfect bank cover behind our house, also maybe w/ another flower potted on our front porch!
Vinca minor, 'Trailing Periwinkle', plants are a fast growing excellent evergreen ground cover for full sun, shade and semi-shaded areas. Ground cover vinca produces dark green oval-shaped foliage and conspicuous blue flowers in early Spring. Combines with Pachysandra. Vinca vines grow low to the ground. VINCA MINOR, as does Pachysandra, is adaptable to most any soil, but prefers fairly good soil. Plant spacing's for bare root: 12 inches apart. 100 plants will cover 100 square feet.
Vinca Major. Finally, a shade-loving ground cover that actual flowers on occasion! Could mix this with Vinca Minor (favorite!) along the north fenceline and on the west side of the backyard around the shed.
