The Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, is seen August 21, 2011, in the southwest corner of The Pentagon Building. It is a permanent outdoor memorial to the 184 men, women, and children who lost their lives as victims of the attack, killed both in the building and on American Airlines Flight 77 in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The Pentagon Memorial honors the 184 lives lost in the Pentagon and on American Airlines Flight 77 during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The Memorial includes a park and gateway spanning approximately two acres.
National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial is one of my very favorites. Probably because this event happened in my lifetime and is still so alive in my memory. It's easiest to visit at night with a car, but you are able to ride the metro to the Pentagon. Read up on the symbolism before you stop by. There are brochures that explain it, but they are sometimes hard to find in the dark.
