Attack on Pearl Harbor - Battleship USS West Virginia took two aerial bombs, both duds, and seven torpedo hits, one of which may have come from a midget submarine.

December 7, 1941 - The attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, commences at 7:55 AM, when the Imperial Japanese Navy launch a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base. The attack took the greatest amount of U.S. naval life in history - 1,177 sailors and marines. Pearl Harbor led to the entry of American troops into World War II.

On Dec. 7, 1941, at 7:48 a.m. Hawaiian Time (12:48 p.m. EST), 353 Japanese fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes attacked the United States base at Pearl Harbor. 2,042 Americans were killed in bombings.
