A Visit with Patrick Leigh Fermor ~ Simply wonderful. Assuming, that is, you like gossipy stories involving Somerset Maugham, John Huston, Darryl Zanuck, Errol Flynn, Juliette Greco, Robert Byron, Bruce Chatwin, and the Sitwell family (“I was rather thick with Sachie and Georgia at the time, and they were very kind to me”). Interspersed with tales of wartime derring-do and the golden age of film. If none of that appeals, I really don’t know what to advise.
Patrick Leigh Fermor "Patrick Leigh Fermor, who died in 2011 at the age of 96, but not before completing a legendary trilogy. As an eighteen-year-old he walked across Europe.... A Time of Gifts and Between the Woods and the Water were published during his middle years, and the adventure ended just a few months ago in the posthumously-published The Broken Road. "
