Twisting high above Floral Street in Covent Garden, in London, England, the Bridge of Aspiration provides the dancers of the Royal Ballet School with a direct link to the Grade 1-listed Royal Opera House. I love that bridge.
Shad Thames, c1910. Much of the river Thames was lined by vertiginous warehouses creating dark canyons separated by slit-like alleys leading to ancient stairs, jetties and wharves. At Shad Thames a myriad of iron bridges spanned the street to allow goods to be moved across the walkways to warehouses inland.
'This flight of steps is part of a wide, steeply sloping front garden near Cheddar Gorge in Somerset. It was designed and constructed in 2004 and planted up over the following 2 years. The steps give easy access down the slope between large drifts of herbaceous perennials and low growing evergreen shrubs. '
