"Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book? It took me years to write, will you take a look? It's based on a novel by a man named Lear And I need a job, so I want to be a paperback writer, Paperback writer. It's a dirty story of a dirty man And his clinging wife doesn't understand"

The Beatles 'perform' their 1966 hit "Paperback Writer" to be aired on the Ed Sullivan show. Guitar aficionados: George Harrison's Gibson SG, pictured here was not played on the actual recording (Fender Stratocaster was used) but he did later give it to Pete Ham of Badfinger, the first band signed to their Apple record label. You can see it in video clips of their performance of their 1971 hit 'No Matter What' produced by George.
