Volva, one of my Guardians in The Way of Wytch is deeply based on the Wand Weds. The Volur, were given Goddess status by Odin.

Viking tribes often nurtured groups of wise women, witches or priestesses. Unmarried, these women were called the völur, singular völva, which literally translated as 'Wand-Wed'.
